May 2024 - Volunteers for Summer Crop Harvest
Farming for Kids recently completed the 2024 Sorghum Harvest with 122 tonnes of sorghum harvested from the land surrounding the airport. A massive thanks to all the volunteers who assisted on the day, including Charles Hill & Scott Chambers on chaser bins, Charlie Parsons & Clive Pursehouse on headers, Mick Tanner & Ian Lalor on trucking, and Dean Thompson from Agracom on grain handling and marketing. Shane & James Woods, Sally Alden, Jess Slade and Les Brown were also on site on the day assisting. Thank you also to Hutcheon & Pearce for providing the new X9 header which Charlie Parsons operated on the day.
Farming for Kids relies heavily on the contributions of volunteers in our local community, we simply wouldn't exist without our volunteers so thank you from the bottom of our hearts! Proceeds from the sale of this sorghum will be utilised to assist young people on the Liverpool Plains. If you know an individual or organisation who may be needing some assistance, please visit our "Funding Request" page. |

July 2022 - Volunteers for Winter Crop Planting
A big ‘Shout Out’ to the generosity of local farmers, who planted our winter wheat crop. We’re continually overwhelmed by the support of our volunteers to sow, grow and harvest crops to fundraise.
It takes a team of people and sponsors all working together for the common goal of assisting young people in the Liverpool Plains – and below is just a handful of those involved:
If you know of any young people in the Liverpool Plains seeking assistance, head to the FUNDING REQUEST tab on our website.

April 2022 - Volunteers for Land Maintenance
‘Farming for Kids’ offer a shout-out to Murray Bartholomew, plus the crew from Double R Equipment for recently volunteering to work-up the land we grow our fundraising crops on at the Quirindi Airport.
The success of our group is totally dependent on all the volunteers and sponsors who continue to support us. Having raised over $200,000.00 from growing, harvesting and selling crops on land leased at the Quirindi Airport (all our funds go to assist Liverpool Plains children) we are always grateful to those that pitch in and help. “This was the first working of the paddock for 12 months to combine the vegetable matter instead of spraying it. We are looking to volunteer working-up the land again, once it’s a bit dryer and preparing it more for a June wheat sowing,” said Murray… who also thanked Kenton and Rob Shaw from Shaw’s Transport Gunnedah who donated the low-loader truck to bring the tractor to the Farming for Kids site. “Farming for Kids is an amazing organisation that supports and assists the next generation and if we can help in any way we are pleased to,” added Murray. Thank you to Double R Gunnedah and Murray Bartholomew for supporting our organisation. |
